Prof. Dr. Nianyu Zou received the B.E. and M.E. degrees in optical engineering from Wuhan University , Wuhan, China in 1985 and 1988, and Ph.D degree in electronics engineering from Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, in 2003, respectively. She is currently the director in Research Institute of Photonics and leader of Optical engineering faculty, Dalian Polytechnic University, Dalian, China.
Between 1988 and 1994, she has worked in the field of optical measurements at Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Then from 1994 to 2003, she worked in the field of optical communications at Jilin University, China. She worked in the field of optoelectronics at Department of Electrical and Electronics, University of the Ryukyus, Okinawa, Japan from 2003 to 2007. She has been worked at Dalian Polytechnic University, Dalian, China since 2007.
Her research field covers optical fiber communications and LED lighting. In recent years she has been engaged researches in visible light communications based on LEDs, lighting environments measurement technique, high performance LED light sources and so on. She has published more than 200 scientific papers, 2 scientific books and 25 patents.
She is active in cooperation with industries and academic organizations. She is member of organizing committee of Asia Lighting Conference . She is Chinese representative leader of co-operation research project on residential lighting between China, Japan and Korea. She is the trustee of China Illumination Engineering Society and vice-chairman of its international committee. She is the vice president of Lighting cooperation committee of Liaoning Province and vice president of Lighting cooperation committee of Dalian city, China.
